甚麼是移民諮詢委員會(MAC) 與及勞工短缺列表(SOL)?
移民諮詢委員會簡稱 – MAC - 是政府委派的獨立團體。
MAC向政府提供英國需要那些技術移民，英國政府會接受這委員會的提議來決定那一個特定行業可以得到勞工簽證。
MAC每年都會制訂一份勞工短缺列表(SOL) 。這列表是根據：
1。有證據顯示某一個行業是需要技術的
2。這行業出現勞工短缺
3。引入移民勞工是明智的
列表內所屬職業將會自動算有*五十分，亦即是英國新勞工移民計分制的所需分數。(*詳情尚待英國內政部公報)
華人餐飲業的困難是：
1. 移民局認為” 廚工”(Cooks) 是快餐作業不能算是技術勞工。
2. MAC 沒有華人餐飲業員工的資料(確實數據) 。
解決辦法
MAC現邀請華人移民委員會協助搜集華人社區的確實數據，有一些行業可憑此而列入勞工短缺列表。我們必須於2008年4月25日之前收集到所需要的確實數據。
閣下可以協助華人移民關注委員會填妥調查問卷；所有問卷必須在本年3月31日前寄回本會。華人社區需要你的支。

What are MAC and SOL?
MAC – Migrant Advisory Committee - is a government appointed body.
MAC advises the Government on what sort of skill migrant workers are needed in Britain. Based on the advice government will decide which occupation will get work permit.
Each year MAC will produce a Shortage Occupation List ( SOL). This List is compiled base on
1. Evidence that shows an occupation is skilled
2. There is a shortage
3. It is sensible to bring migrants to fill the shortage.
Occupations appear on the List will automatically grant 50* points that is needed for entry in th UK under the Point Based System. (*Final details is to be announced by the Home Office)
Problems for Chinese catering
1.Border and Immigration (BIA) does not recognise “cooks” in fast food outlets as skilled workers.
2.MAC has NO information (evidence) on Chinese catering workers.
Solution
MAC is inviting CICC to submit evidence, on behalf of our community, that show certain occupations should be included in the SOL List. We must have this evidence ready by 25th April 2008.
